In March 1984, Mai Trading was established as a single proprietorship with the sole objective of trading agri-industrial products in the Visayas area, particularly in Cebu province. After six(6) years of operation, it was made into a corporation under the business name of McMai (Cebu) Trading Corporation. Presently, McMAI is holding office at McMAI building, Zone Paliya, Paknaan, Mandaue City, Cebu, same location of its warehouses. The corporation is a closed family corporation, the incorporators being family members and relatives.

In the early stages of its operations, the corporation as a trading firm got its various chemical products from local suppliers. However, as it expanded its market to the Mindanao areas, having opened a branch in Davao City in late 1987, it started to import from countries like South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Russia, Malaysia and some parts in the United States of America. Now, McMAI has grown, with a working force of 35 employees in Cebu and 30 in Davao. Recently, the corporation ventured into other businesses like manufacturing of Aluminum Sulfate and a wood treatment plant.

The manufacturing plant is located in Leyte Industrial Development Estate, Isabel, Leyte. The corporation is presently supplying water districts in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro cities and some parts of the Visayas and Mindanao areas.

The corporation is serving the chemical requirements of all banana and pineapple plantations in Davao, Cotabato and Bugo, Cagayan de Oro City. It also serves the chemical requirements of gold mining companies and few of the chemical requirements of the rubber plantations in Mindanao.

In 2003, McMAI put up a subsidiary company called W'ttreat Chem Trading Corp. with office at Cityland Condominium 10, Tower 1 in Makati City with Sulfuric Acid as its primary product. At present, McMAI and its subsidiary companies has a work force of more than one hundred(100) employees.
